Do you know that everyone, including you, has fallen short of God's holy standard? That's called sin, and we all inherited the problem from the first man and woman.
Do you know that no sinner can enter God's holy presence?
Do you know that there's absolutely nothing you can do to solve this problem?
The Bible puts it like this:
The wages of sin is death... (Romans 6:23)
So far that sounds more like bad news, doesn't it? Now here's the good bit. You cannot earn salvation... but you don't have to. The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ, the Son of God and only perfect person ever to have lived, has done everything for us. He took our sin upon himself at the cross, so that we might be forgiven and enter into a relationship with God.
Going to church can't save you. Neither can doing good deeds. Nothing we can do can erase the effects of sin. Instead, God freely offers us salvation through his son, Jesus. Now let's take a look at the rest of that verse:
